Anonymous asked: ajdnnw + his mom (because you should never forget)

couldbebetterforsure:

Dear, I never forget my AJ!

AJ and his mom…It had been just the two of them for as long as AJ could remember. Was there a dad in the picture before? Who knows? AJ didn’t care much about someone he couldn’t remember, someone his mother never talked much about. As long as he had his mom, he was happy. AJ was always rather close to his mother, even more so than the average young boy would be. This often lead to a good amount of teasing from the other kids in the neighborhood. A mama’s boy is what they called him. Their teasing always made AJ cry, which made the bullying even worse. But what was so bad about him being attached to his mother? His mom got him a nice Poketech, made him yummy lunches, always had kisses and hugs to give, healed up his Pokemon without hesitation (even though he came running back to her so many times during his first day with Lazergatr). She would always listen to his ramblings whenever he called her, always had a kind word and encouragement to give, always had comfort to offer whenever he lost, got hurt, or was separated from his Pokemon. And none of that undying love changed when the Voices came and controlled him, making his life so miserable and wild.

So yeah, AJ most definitely was a mama’s boy…Is that a problem?

Mega PoliwrathWater/Fighting
Hydrate (Ability) - Changes all Normal-Type moves in to Water-Type moves and gives them a 30% boost in power. ORFlood (Ability) - Powers up the user every time they use a Water-Type move.
HP: 90Atk: 145Def: 145Sp. Atk: 70Sp. Def: 90Spe: 70Total: 610Design DiscussionThe second of my quintuplet Megas, this time you’re looking at Mega Poliwrath. Before I even started drawing basic designs, I already knew that I wanted to give Poliwrath larger fists so as to go with the added Atk and Def stats it’d be getting. I also decided that taking a step back and giving Poliwrath its tail back would also be an interesting idea, and even more-so with how it folds back underneath Poliwrath’s body and becoming a part of its spiral stomach; giving the Pokemon a bit more of a streamlined design. It also has a mouth again, or maybe its mouth was just closed the entire time? Who knows.
It wasn’t until I was a good bit in to my design that I decided to give Poliwrath a more floaty and bulbous structure in the form of tube fingers and arm rings. It makes Poliwrath look like it’d be really good at floating let alone swimming. Maybe it can walk on water?
In the end, Mega Poliwrath looks a bit more frog like but still remains the pollywog that we all know and love, and personally my favorite design I’ve done!Balance DiscussionBoy, was Poliwrath a whole load of not-very-good in the first place. Its stats were mediocre and the less said about its move pool, the better.
I actually mused over the idea of having +70 to Mega Poliwrath’s Attack Stat (Making it 165) with just +30 going towards its Defense. In the end, I decided that the +50 to both stats with a new ability would be the better route.
So what does the ability “Hydrate” offer to Mega Poliwrath? Well, nothing fantastically complicated, it can just make Poliwrath have better access to strong STAB moves. Ones that would be useful off the top of my head would obviously be Giga Impact and Return at full friendship.
I also toyed around with the idea of giving Mega Poliwrath an Ability that would add a +atk buff every time it used a Water-Type move, and that might actually be better or worse than Hydrate. It would mean that after just one or two rounds have passed with Poliwrath on the field, it’d already be able to sweep like a monster. Similar to Regigigas’ Slow Start ability, except not quite as lame.
Whichever ability gets chosen, it’d have to be a new one added to the game. And who knows? Maybe the addition of Mega Poliwrath would also bring some new Water-Type physical moves as well? If you feel inclined to, let me know which ability you’d rather have!
